Five of us from the East Tennessee area drove down in two cars for the concert – even fighting our way through an hour backup on I-75 north of Atlanta.
After checking in to the Holiday Inn in Decatur, GA, we promptly found a wonderful little pub call The Brick Store Pub and began the evening’s festivities. It was about a 20 minute MARTA ride from Decatur to the front door of the 21,000-seat arena. Inside we found the nearest BASS ALE tap to our Portal 5 entrance. Before going in, I stood in line for about 30 minutes to get a 2007 Tour t-shirt, and made $10 for also ordering for a stranger who stepped up beside and asked me to oblige…and, for $10, a third of the cost of my shirt, I ordered for us both!
Inside we found that our seats were directly above the portal entrance, which meant no one could stand up in front of us! The rail also helped in steadying the camera for the included existing light shots!
Wonderful set list, which included all my favorites except “Young Lust,” wonderful stage set, and wonderful lighting and special effects. I am so glad I went!
When the (spoiler alert) background screen comes alive with a hand retuning the radio, picks up a cigarette and lights if off screen, then comes back for the glass of scotch, you know it’s about to become a HAPPENING! The hand tunes the radio a couple of more times then settles on “In the Flesh,” and you see the 6’4” Roger Waters standing on stage, you’re off!
I began the concert still wishing Doyle Bramhall III would be there, but by the end of “Mother” I was ready to party with Dave Kilminster and Snowy White. They did not miss a lick and believe me we have them memorized!
I have sent other shots to Brain Damage - don't know if they'll post them or not, but check Flickr for the same shots!

Hell yeah.....thanks for sharing the experience.
Cool. Glad you had a good time.
Separating Roger's excellent music from his shitty politics....I noticed the flying pig was sportin' a "Fear Builds Walls" message. Fraid I'm gonna have to call BS on Roger if the tour isn't scheduled to stop in Pakistan or Beirut. I bet he has a wall around his house cause he's scared.
jus sayin.
Yes, we filter out his politics and just enjoy the genius' creation!
Luckily, in this country he has a right to say his piece - lucky for us we have the sense to make our own decisions.
Gonna take you at least two night before you can SLEEP again, ain't it?
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond"!!!
Glad to hear you guys had a great time. Looks like the arena was pretty croweded.
Does indeed sound like a awesome time! Well, except for the traffic.
Looks like a damn good time!
Man, they even posted the picture of the four of you. Cool. Well done. Next thing, Mtv will be jetting you to spring break. Be sure and post thise shots too.
SPOILER?! Well, you just ruined the entire show for me...............LOL!
Glad you had a good time, and your pics were posted. I STILL ya lost weight.
A little explanation about the spoiler...most people speculate on how concerts will open and you sit there a long time...probably an hour if you get there early and look at this picture behind the stage, and never realize until the tuner is turned that the music may have been coming from that huge radio the hold time.
When the hand comes up is the first you realize it's a movie screen and it scares you for a split second and the crowd begins to buzz louder - anticipating the start is near.
When the cigarette lights up and the smoke curls up and around the radio and the hand returns to tune the radio you know what's about to happen. It was really cool they way it started it off.
OMGImSoFawkingJealous!
I've loved Floyd since I was too young to be listening to the devil's rock & roll music.
I was practically suckled on Dark Side and Wish You Were Here (which is the best album, by far, no matter what the fanboys have to say!).
As I think you're aware, I saw a Floyd tribute band only last week - I actually wept when dark side of the moon was played (think I'm pre-menapausal).
Are those 'photo's all of your own making? I think I'm about to cry, again.
I love this place.. it quenches my thirst. Thank you, Mushy. x
Thanks for sharing the experience with pics Mushy! I'm so dang jealous! And congrats on getting your pics linked. That's really cool.
Yes, those are my own shots...made with my Nikon S7c held firmly against the railing in front of my seat. It's a great little camera with a lot of features I don't ever use.
Note that there are some other shots on my Flickr site - if you are interested.
Pink Floyd music has always made me look deep inside myself and it's almost an out of body experience to listen to their music in a dark room, with only the stereo equalizer bars glowing and bouncing in front of you. Headphones are a must too!
Very cool - I'm glad you got to make the trek to see the Roger Waters experience. Glad to see a big pig was in attendance, too. and holy crap - $83.00 per ticket? wow.
