I was born at home in my great grandfather's bed, after mom grew tired of waiting on me at the hospital. She left and went home and I arrived that night. Dad gave ol' Doc Cotton a five dollar bill for his trouble. Ain't been worth much since!

Awwww, your moment in the sun;)
Great Picture. Is that your dad?
Happy Birthday, and many more.
Have one for me.
Yep...my dad...he gave the local doctor $5 for his trouble! I ain't gained in value one bit since.
I was born in that old house, in my great grandfather's bed. Mom had gone to the hospital, but got tired of waiting on me and wanted to go home. I was born that night at home!
I need to revise the post to incude a picture of the old house and a link to my great grandfather's post.
Happy Birthday, Old Timer!
I just checked the book and it says that 61 year old Mushys are worth $5.25! Just kidding. Wishing you the best birthday EVER! Happy Birthday, Ol' Mushy!
Damn... nevermind. Well, they say that 50 is the new 30, so really yer only like 41. How's that? That's why they don't let me teach math.
A great story, like the ones my folks tell about their bursting onto the scene. Mom was thought to have been born dead, till her grandmother tossed her in a bath of ice water to wake her up. Lots of drama in those days, and messed up bed sheets. My sis and I were the first ones to both be born in hospitals. Boring as hell.
Anyway, congrats! Happy Birthday, and don't spend it all in one place.
Happy Birthday, man! Hope it's a good one.
*beer!*
I do believe that's the first time I was ever called "old timer"...it don't hurt too bad! I feel I was born at the very best time in history and I would not trade the prevelidge for any other time - except pre-white man America! Us Boomers have had a wonder time...even with Vietnam, Kennedys, King on down...the very best of times.
Damn, that's cheap Jess...buy a dozen or so!
FHB...you're just full of good tales too...you got to get'em out there!
Beer you say? About to leave now Mark!
Happy Belated Birthday Mushy. I hope you had a great time!
Now, on the other hand, that five-spot might've been one of those Silver-Certificate issues my Dad used to tell me about! Just imagine if you had that $5 bill today, with interest...
At least I know what kinda personality I need to "shoot-for", 5 years down MY road from now!
But, it would all be in vain! 'Cause ya' just cain't improve on the "original Mushy mold", now can ya'???
Damn, Bruno, I take that as a very special compliment...but you ain't bad either!
I just read your great grandfather post. Very cool. I often wish I'd been born ten or fifteen years earlier, so that I could have gotten to know a few more of the old folks in my family. My sister and cousins tell hilarious stories from those earlier days. makes me jealous.
And on the thumb twiddling - when I a was very little, my dad used to sit with a stack of English copper pennies (about the size of a silver dollar but thinner) and flip them over one another with his thumb, one after the other. It used to mesmerize me to watch it, and to hear the sound it made.
It's the little things they do/did that you remember.
Happy Birthday!
Was that bed usable afterwards?
Happy birthday, Mushy, and may you have many more.
Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you.
And. Many. Moooooooore!
Trust me, you don't want me to actually sing this. I can't carry a tune in a bucket.
Thanks Pat and Debbie just use a bluesy tune!
Happy Happy Birthday Mushy!!!!
