Judy and I took a day trip to
Once on a business trip I visited the fabulous Liquor Barn there and since she needed adult beverage for her cruise and I needed something for the “wild weekend,” we took advantage of the time.
The Liquor Barn is about the size of a Food City or any other medium size grocery store is dedicated to a wonderful array of deli meats, condiments, cheeses, breads and crackers, spices, but most importantly, beers, wines, liquors, and cigars! A real manly man store if ever there was one.
There are aisles specific for beers of every imaginable variety, whiskeys, bourbons, scotches, tequilas, vodkas, wines, and everything in between. We made a few purchases and then perused the humidor room. I picked up a few Macanudos for Corey and me, and we were off.
We then proceeded to the beautiful Keeneland Race Track and walked the grounds and shops. There was no racing on the track that day, but the betting was hot and heavy in the TV feed areas. We’ll have to go back one day for a race!
The trip back was preempted by a short stop at the local T.G.I. Friday’s, where we met Teri, our pretty waitress. Teri was lots of fun and when I asked if I could take her picture, she proceeded to hop up on the booth seat across from us and proudly showed her “we’re number one” pose for her Dallas Cowboys!
She even took the camera into the bar and snapped a shot there for me. Great gal!
On the way back I took a shot of the huge cross that announces the up coming Adult World complex at the 141 exit off I-75 near Huntsville, TN (Does Howard Baker ring a bell?)! I’m not sure who is trying to out do who there!
It was a nice little 400 mile day trip!

The Cross next to the Porn Palace is great.....I've been passed that way many a time(driving RVs up and down I-75 for delivery))....and usually stop for a nap, fill-up and coffee, right across the Highway at the Pilot Truck Stop...although I've never been one to stop at the porn stop, I can attest that the shop was there fist, and the Cross was put up later to give the partakers in the Adult Shop a message.....lol!
Thanks for the history Pat...there are several of those giant crosses in Tennessee.
The very few times I used to go out, "in-public" to eat, I found there are TWO kinds of table servers---those who are there because they HAVE to be, and those who really get into their job, and seem to enjoy it, and make you feel welcome. Obviously, your gal was one of the latter! That always makes it more pleasure-ful!
Did ya' leave her a MushysMoochings blog-card? You DID print some, now, didn't you?
Wohoo, go cowboys. I love it. And the cross/porn shop thing is hilarious. I thought that sort of stupid shit only happened in Texas.
Yep, that Booze barn sounds like Disneyland for grownups, and the merges are great. Love the one with Judi. Very smooth.
I just love the Liquor Barn!!!! Found that place on my way to Cinci a long time ago. They've cleaned up the place a bit, but in any costume the place is perfect and they have everything! Why oh why oh why can we not get sane liquor laws here in TN and get these fabulous places nearer to home?
Bruno - Yep, gave her a card! I was afraid she was going to get into trouble with her manager with the camera, but she probably brings in too much business to fire!
FHB - The only thing I didn't see, and it may have been there was Yuengling, but I bought my first 6-pk in Tennessee this past weekend. Finally!
Missy - Thanks for the comment and I'm on your side...there are just some things to be liberal about!
Hi Mushy,
Great day trip!
I might not be the most regular visitor for the next three or four weeks because I have to hand over my novel on 31 October - but I'm always just one click away if you need me.
Will always be here for you and other blog friends.
Keep smiling
David
Thanks David...I'm envious!
They call it the liquor barn because it turns men who have spent money there into animals...
Does Teri know how many people are staring at her right now...? :-)
She will if she uses my card to find this site!
Wow - I am envious of your Liquor Barn! We had to give away hundreds of bucks and years worth of accumulated 'stuff' and now we can't afford to replace it at NM prices. Definitely BYOB with way cheaper TN hooch when you show up. We'll buy if you fly.
A 400 mile day trip?? Sheesh, now I know you're bonkers. Anyway, now that I know you have a cleaning lady, I'm sulking. Hmph.
How come you always seem to attract the prettiest of waitresses, AND manage to persuade them to do all these favours for you? You little smooth-talker, you..
I hear Lexington's nice. Funny how you spent time at the Liquor Barn and racetrack. I would have been at the museum or the park or something.
We love road trips, too! This was a great introduction to your place, Mushy. Please drop by and tell us what you think of our place - we're new and would love feedback. Thanks!
