MY ALASKA PHOTOS HAVE BEEN POSTED

Well, there I was...climbing McKinley when...seriously, if you are interested at all in my Alaska photographs, they have been posted on FLICKR...CLICK HERE to be taken to the thumbnail page. To see large formats of the shots, double click each shot. The thumbnail page presents the shots in chronological order of the trip.

Any future posts will be based on comments left here or at Flickr!

The trip is pretty self-explanatory at Flickr, so I don't want to bore you with "blow-by-blow" account. If you have questions, then I will try my best to answer them.

We had a ball...hope you enjoy the photos!

cool photos Mr Mushy, I would love a trip to Alaska. I did land there in the 1970's but just there for a couple of hours.

It was our second time...once was with a church group in Anchorage, but we didn't venture out much.

This time we saw everything we wanted to see except Denali! It's an elusive mountain.

WOW!!! Some great pics! I liked the 'bands of gold' one; what kind of tree was that?

Thanks for checkin'em out!

Cool pics, as always. What was the per person cost of that one?

The Alaska Pipeline, live and in person? Way cool for someone who was a teen during the 70's :-)

Question: Why is it a "monkey puzzle" tree? Did you find out?

The origin name Monkey-puzzle derives from its early cultivation in Britain in about 1850. The tree was very popular in Victorian England. Legend has it that an owner of a young tree specimen in Cornwall was showing it to a group of friends, and one made the remark,"it would puzzle a monkey to climb that".
The popular name became, first 'monkey-puzzler', then 'monkey-puzzle'. Prior to 1850, it had been called Joseph Bank's Pine or Chile Pine in Britain even though it is not a pine.

Awesome pics, Mushy! I seriously envy you.

Along with a trip to Patagonia, an Alaskan trip like yours is something that I really, really want to do.
