UPDATE ON SHOULDER SURGERY

I thought you might like to see how I'm doing post-surgery these days (no...well, look anyway!).

I have to attend a physical therapy session three times a week, plus do the following home exercises twice daily. There are five basic positions:

Position 1 - Golf putter back over my head as far as I can reach 10 times, holding for 1o seconds -

Position 2 - Push arm out to the side and up past my head as far as I can, 10 times, holding for 10 seconds -

Position 3 - Push the arm at the elbow out and over as far as I can, 10 times, holding for 10 seconds -

Position 4 - Pull my right arm up and over behind my back as far as I can, 10 times, holding for 10 seconds -

Position 5 - Put on your signature Mushy straw hat, stick out your tongue, breathe hard, turn face red, and whimper like a small child, 10 times, holding for 10 seconds.

Truthfully, it hurts like a beeeotch and I don't know how much longer I'll have to do this. Probably until it does not hurt like a beeeotch anymore!

Weird. I did exercises in my bed this afternoon that were almost exactly like yours. Mine was "Lay on bed, lift piece of pizza to mouth and chew. Repeat several times until pizza is all gone." And you thought *your* workout was rough!

I managed to get my putter over my head... but then I fell asleep. I'll try again tomorrow.

I was wondering how your surgery was holding up. But it seemed like you were havin' so much fun movin' around, that I didn't want to rain on your parade, and remind you that IT STILL HURTS!!! So, since YOU said it first, I feel a lot better...!

My question was gonna be: Was the pain after surgery more or less than the "original-pain"?

Next you'll explain the pants? I mean, damn.

Seriously, proud of you. You'll stick with it, take the pills, and you'll be back to normal before you know it. You know that.

Oh c'mon. Those are classic golf pants. Why do physical therapy with a golf club if you're not gonna dress the part? HeeHee

I do exercise #5 daily, usually at least five times a day. That's one of the exercises a mom of four boys must do so that she doesn't get out of shape when she's gotta yell because NOBODY knows how to PICK... UP... THEIR... ROOM. *ahem* I digress.

Love ya Mushy. Take care and get better soon. Ta for now dahling!

Bruno - I won't know the answer to that for another 3 months. Right now I still question the decision!

FHB - those are my UT lounging pants - jealous huh?

Take care of that arm.
I hope everything goes well for you.

I think you should do more of #5 and less of the other four.

Or, what if you made the exercises more rewarding? Stick a nice cold brew on the end of a stick and reach for THAT.

Going the P/T route myself (altho for a different issue); it's rough!

I stand corrected as to the true meaning of exercising in bed. Now I've been enlightend, hubby may become a tad disappointed.. but I'm sure he'll get with the programme once I wield the old golfclub (hehe)..

Hope you get back on the mend soon, bonny lad. xx

What I want to know is how they performed physical therapy before the sport of golf became popular?

I mean, would this work as well with a hockey stick, or perhaps a jai alai xistera?

Sure Alex, at the PT facility I use a PVC pipe with a "T" fitting on the end.

Then there's the pulley deal that reminds me of the rack in a dungeon!
