ROCKIN’ EASTER EVE

As I have posted before, it is funny how the Dragons congregate in one area while the Knights flop in another at family gatherings. It could be the level of the music, I don’t know! We have always liked it loud, but these days it is almost a necessity for us old dudes to hear the same licks we used too!

After eating baked ham, potato salad, baked beans, rolls and other great starches, we settled into the music room for some Dylan, G&R, Son Volt, Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, Skynyrd and more! The intensity was enhanced by cold beers and a little local libation kicker called “cherry moonshine!

It’s a good way to sleep off a full stomach and get lost in your own little “headphone” world!

I thought the “moon” was very photogenic…don’t you?

Later, it was time for some juicy coconut cake for our sweet tooth.

Hope your holiday was as enjoyable as ours.

Smashing Pumpkins? You DO have an open mind, but why would I doubt that? Saw them a few times in the mid 90s. Looks and sounds like a great time.

Man, a fella could learn to live like this in a hurry!

Correct me if I'm wrong, now---but didn't Smashin' Pumpkins do a remake of the Monkeys "I'm A Believer", a couple years back? Think it was the version used in the original "Schrek" movie, wasn't it???

Love the album cover collection! I still have several in my possession, really miss those "life-size" cover pics! Some things just can't be duplicated on CD! Guess that's why God made readin' glasses, so's we can see the title list....!

Dang. I'm impressed. I'd be asleep after all that food.

Oh, the cheeks...that's from the wind on the hike the day before! Cold and windy, but more on that later!

I had intended to wish you a happy Easter, but looks like you are well on your way there already. That stuff looks AWFUL! heh

Have you ever drank some 'jack-apple-cherry-knockers'? Don't!
heheheh

Some amateur mixed up a batch (I have no idea what all is actually in the recipe, but apple juice, cherry juice, and LOTS of some kind of alcohol). This was when I was only 20 years old and too stupid not to drink the glass given to me. I spent the rest of the evening hugging porcelain.

Age and experience helps...now one or two shots and I'm done. I don't like to get drunk and I work hard at it anymore. I like a little buzz, I drink plenty of water, and I like to sleep at night without waking up with a headache.

A little libation (and I mean a little) never hurt anybody.

Oh, I'm so jealous - wish my easter shaped up half as fun as yours seems to have! Never mind, at least I have the Manx T.T. ahead - my mid-life crisis, bunch of bikers are soon to take over my shed again (wheyhey)...

It was "carne Asada" for us. We had a small family gathering at the house and the kids got in the swimming pool today for the first time this year. Darn kids just don't know the concept of the word "cold". After all was said and done we did have a great time, kids found many plastic eggs "hidden" all over the yard and got treated to Easter baskets full of goodies.

Happy Easter, Mushy! MY WIFE and I spent the day over at my sister-in-law's place. Ham, potatoes, good veggies, great desserts, strong coffee and my 2-year-old niece and 1-year-old grandnephew (she's his aunt!) having a whale of a time hunting down the eggs.

MY WIFE bought the 1-year-old a fluffy plush chicken, about the size of your fist, that made "cheep! cheep!" sounds when you squoze it's belly. The nephew heard that and grabbed it and clutched it to his heart while breaking into a smile that would warm the coldest winter day. I hope I never forget that look - that's what this day should be about, always.
