TAKING IT FOR GRANTED

Well, it is getting close to the end of another year, a time when I usually contemplate the past and try to evaluate how things are going. Over all, they are going well. My prayer for the New Year is that things continue this way for some time – God willing.

I found a picture that best represented a certain time in my life, added the head shot to the body of an appropriate size character in this artwork by Herb Mandel, and came up with this artsy-fartsy timeline of my life. Herb is a good blogging friend of mine and, if you have not, you need to check out his blog. (Yes FHB, the Afro is for you, and the uniforms are for you Goddess!)

Herb and I have similar blogging styles, with one exception, he draws his memories, where as, I try to find appropriate old photos. Drawing takes considerable more talent I think. As usual, I try to take the easy way out!

I have videos of my son playing Little League ball, basketball, and swimming around like a little otter. I have pictures of him being born, his first Christmases, birthdays, and most every step he has taken in life, including his many graduations and holding his firstborn. But, back in my day, they had little more than a Brownie Hawkeye to record fleeting moments. The one of me as a baby is very blurred and grainy, but the best anyone has. How wonderful it would have been to see myself playing ball, laughing, talking, and blowing out candles! Our children just do not realize the sheer wonder and miracle of today’s capabilities.

Can you imagine the thrill of seeing your grandparents and great grandparents growing up in beautiful color with rich sound? Well, if we could, we would take it all for granted too.

LOve the collage Mushy!! Hehe that afro is wild but you were styling back then!

I have vidoes of both my kids when they were babies but we stopped taking them. My parents took those but I do have a video camera now so I will be better now.

You did a great job on the pictures.
You will not believe this but hubby still has a Brownie Hawkeye. He still has the darkroom equipment that his grandfather gave him. It all went together.

I kindda stopped taking video when the digital cameras came out. You are just full of talent with your picture alterations, seems to me you have fun doing it too.

Is that Mac Davis in that picture, circa 1977? Kills me every time. You were stylin' back then fer sure. Women went as over ankles for that look back then, as I'm sure you know. Nice collage, and nice idea about being able to see our granparents and others growing up. Again, makes me want to go out and get a scanner. We've got nice pictures of the folks from back then. I'll look into it.

Ok the uniforms are great, but did you notice FHB is posting HALF NAKED pics of himself?! If you feel the need to compete, I'll totally understand...LOL;)

Yeah, but I'm much fatter, hairier, and older than FHB. Not a pretty sight. I even shower blindfolded!

Yer all VERRY lucky there's no scratch and sniff function with this friggin thing, is all I'm sayin'.

Ok if that's the case, Mushy, shouldn't your site be called "FBH Mach II" then? LOL....
I don't know, you're looking damn good in that icon pic you're using;)

The more I look at that picture, the more I'm reminded of the picture of Oswald holding the rifle and newspaper in his back yard. You know, the one the conspiracy nuts claim is fake, that it's not him. This looks like three completely different guys. Brothers maybe, but different. Funny. Interesting how we change over time.

As I look at these photos I see me - big surprise! But seriously, I mean I have pretty much been the same person from the start.

Now, if you put, oh say the Goddess, shots in there, she, being a girl, would see 5 or 6 different people! You know how girls continue to emotionally change every 5 years into something completely unrecognizable!

Man, I can't wait for the retort on this one!

Dude, yer on your own.

Seriously, it looks like a family shot of a dad, his two adult sons (one of whome is gay), and his grandkids. Cool.

Gay...just because you get one little perm!

Just kidding man. It was a very manly perm in its day. It's just a little Richard Simmons, if you know what I mean.
